  4. Undertale Plot Summary

UNDERTALE is set after a war between mankind and a race of creatures known only as 'monsters.' The humans emerge victorious and seal the monsters away behind a magic barrier in an underground realm. You play as a young human child who awakens there, behind the seal, and subsequently tries to escape. Earthbound got T-rated when the Virtual Console rerelease happened, so I can't see Undertale going any lower than a T. Formerly known as Hero Fly Chao. I can cook spaghetti.

Undertale's writing is consistently funny, but it can also be touching. Small, semi-hidden notes and dialogue enrich the world and build on an already compelling story of humanity and morality. Undertale is a role-playing game that utilizes many of the traditional mechanics normally seen in role-playing games but with a number of differences. The battle system in Undertale is turn-based and seems to be heavily inspired by bullet-hell games – in particular, the Touhou series – where the protagonist's SOUL, represented by a red heart, must avoid attacks unleashed by the.

What
Great Characters
Great Story
Undertale's story has a general structure, but much of it is affected by how the player chooses to play. In enemy encounters, for instance, players have a choice to kill their opponent or neutralize the fight with compassion until the opponent can be spared. And, if players decide to actively seek out enemies to kill, the game will respond to their sadistic tendencies in kind.
ln the opening cutscene, players learn that a war between humans and monsters ended with monsters being sealed away in the Underground, and the cutscene depicts a young child who climbs a mountain and falls into the monsters' domain. Players control the protagonist, an unnamed human child, as they awake in the Underground. After encountering a cruel flower called Flowey, the protagonist is rescued by a motherly goat-like figure named Toriel. Toriel takes the protagonist under her wing, leading them through the Ruins and teaching them how to survive in the Underground.
As players experience the world, they will gradually uncover a deeper narrative lurking behind the surface. However, to get Undertale's full story, players will need to complete the game several times with different play styles.
The game can be saved at established checkpoints scattered throughout the different areas.
Some of the fights, especially boss fights, may take a bit of practice and trial-and-error before players are able to beat them.
Violence If players choose, they can slay enemy monsters, although sparing them is always an option. Defeated enemies will turn into a puff of white dust.

Scary Imagery In what has been termed a 'Genocide Run' of the game—where players kill every enemy they encounter and actively seek out a certain number of enemies in each area to kill—some disturbing and potentially scary imagery is present. Nothing is too explicitly graphic or even realistic-looking, but several moments still manage to pack a bit of an emotional and visceral punch.
